Finding the famous food in dhaka is really difficult , because in every corner of the old dhaka there is some new variety of food . There is some unique food which are only available in dhaka and the food prices are very much affordable . Being a bengali still I found 2 -3 types of food first time in Dhaka , like this fruit Sarbat (sweet drink ) , Fruit bharta and Bakarkhani , this all items are very tasty .
I stayed in the Nawabpur , Old Dhaka which is near to the heart of the city . Assan Manzil , Shakari Bazar , sadarghat , Lalbaug fort , Dhakeswari kali temple and also most of the famous food shops , are near to my hotels . I stayed in Dhaka for 3 days . I must say near to the Dhaka Medical college and university you will get different variety of food . let go one by one
Mixed Fruit Bharta :
This is one of the unique street food I found beside the Dhaka University which seems to be very popular among the students . In the Mortar he put chopped chalta(elephant apple) , green banana , mango , kul (jujube ) , amra ( ambarella ) , guwava , tarmarine , coriander leave , green chilies , salt and after that mashed all the items for sometime . Now finally he make a rough paste like this . This is the final fruit bharta . This is very tasty and good for health .

Different variety of tea :
There is lots of tea shops near to the TSC Dhaka University and they have a large variety of tea with different flavour . In every tea stall have more than 10 variety of tea and some stall have more than 70-80 variety of tea . In this place ginger , condensed milk , malta and lemon tea are most popular .

Bakarkhani
It is a dried biscuit like thing which are best for tea and snacks . This are hand made and made in tandoor bhatti (a very hot place ). There is two types of Bakarkhani one salted and another sweet . This snacks is made of wheat cooking oil /ghee , salt and have one /two cut inside it . This are very fragile .
price : 120 taka /kg or little more than 1 $ .
Biriyani
The most famous Haji Biriyani we see in West Bengal started it’s journey from Dhaka Town in 1939 . This shop has been famous for a special type of biriyani which is called ” Kachhi Biriyani “. It is a type of biriyani where meat is coming from a small goat . The biriyani is very nice and the meat is well cooked . This biriyani is very light and rice are smaller in size not like long biriyani rice .
Rather than this shop biriyani can be found in any corner in Dhaka city .

Sarbat :
This is a special type of Sarbat (miscellaneous drink ) , in which they put different fruits like malta , apple , guwava , pear and also dates to make it unique . In a big pot they kept a big chunk of ice and put those thing when the ice becomes water they mixed it well and this sarbat is prepared .

Pitha :
Pitha is one of the traditional Bengali food found in the streets of Dhaka . It is mainly made of Rice , coconut and jaggery . Mainly 3-4 types of pitha are found in the street of Dhaka . They are aske , kuli pitha and patisapta . Kuli pitha are stuffed with either coconut or with khoya . Patisapta are rolls where khoya is put inside .

Summary :
I must say Dhaka is the food capital of not only Bangladesh but also whole bengali speaking region . All famous food are available in Dhaka with very reasonable price . In Old Dhaka in every corner you will found new food . This food has mughal , british , Indian and authentic bengali influence . There is lots of different variety of food but some of the unique are discussed here only .
