Hi Friends ….. I am shyam , in the time of Republic Day take a small leave from my office and come to Pune ….the heart of Maratha culture and also the home of Peshwa Balaji Bajirao . This city is the closest city to the birth place of Chatrapati Shivaji . The settlement in Pune older than 1500 year starting from 5th century . One of the oldest building being the Pateleswar temple . Rastrakuta are the people make earlier settlement here . This city has been green , pollution free and best place to experience Maratha culture . This city now a days major hub for IT . So you can see lots of malls and new residential complex . Here you can taste bada pao and different type of Bhujia . It is littlebit hilly landscape . This city has been called the Oxford of India . As there is lots of University and college in Pune city .
How to reach to Pune ?
The city is well connected by Air , Rail and road with the rest of the country .
Air :
Pune Airport 10 km distant from the Pune city . This city is both the Military and Civil Airport . Both International and domestic flight operate from the city . International Flight are mainly for west Asia . All the major Indian airlines operate from this city connecting all the major cities of India .
Rail :
Pune city station is the major train station from where you can get trains for all the major cities .
Road :
NH 4 , NH 9 and NH 50 passes through the city . Bus , Taxi are the major road transport system in the pune city .
Story :
This was Monsoon time and I started my journey from the Kolkata Netaji Subhas International Airport . My flight was in Go Air and it departure from the airport around 10:05 pm . There is some funny story to board this flight . Today I have planned to travel after the office hours . My office ends in 5 : 00 pm and reached home around 6 pm . Now what happened I board in Dankuni Local around 6 :30 pm . Now starts the real problem . It reaches Bidhannagar around 7 :15 pm . After reaching there I am not getting bus toward the Airport . After long wait I got a bus around 8:00 pm . Now bus got into traffic jam and finally in 9:20 pm I reached Airport . I don’t know If I can board the plane or not but I saw Flight was late and it finally departure around 11:30 pm . The flight was too late . They announced that there was a technical problem . It reaches the pune airport around 1 : 00 am in the night . First I thought that I will spent the rest of the night in the airport but I was feeling too much tiered as today I just come from the office . So finally I prepared to take a hotel instead it .
Here in pune all the hotels are very expensive . I saw that there is no hotels less than 800 -900 inr. so finally I went to a auto driver and said to take me to some cheap hotel . Today was raining in the night and the weather was cold . so finally I started my journey toward to the hotel. This airport is in the middle of airforce base . Both the military and civil airline operate from here . Today road was totally clean and the auto was running fast . After 30 mins it reaches to my hotel . Here base price is 800 . so I booked a room and take rest for that night . The hotel was nice and in front of me there is a big window to have a look for the city . Now I don’t make late further and sleep for the night .
Today I wake up early in the morning and make a local tour . Still today it was raining mildly . I walked beside the road and got a milk shop . I take one glass milk . They mixed the sugar and milk well . It was good for the start of the day . Now I see a venkateswar temple just beside the road and a mall nearby . Now I come back to the Hotel once again . Then take a shower and went for the local tour . Total pune tour was by walking and first time in my life I used google maps for navigation .
First I went for the Saniwar wara …. the palace of the Peshwa . It was a fort like building . From the above floor you can see who is coming from a long distance . It was build by the Peshwa balaji Bajirao I in the year 1730 . Firstly the plan was to build the whole palace by stone but later by the order of the sahu it was build by brick only the base floor was build by the stone . At the peak time almost 1000 people live in this fort . This fort has lots of doors like Dilhi darwaza , Mastani Darwaza , Khirki dwardaza , Ganesh darwaza . Delhi Darwaza symbolize the ambition of the Peshwa to aquire delhi once .
Next I walked from there and reached Raja Dinkar Khelkar Museum . It is one of the famous museum in Pune . one of the major attraction here is the preserved Mastani Mahal . Here you can see the culture , art , cooking material and lots more . You can see the different jewellery used by traditional Marathi Woman . Here the lifestyle of the maratha people has been preserved I don’t know this museum is private museum or govt but entry price is 50 rs.
My next stop is Aga Khan Palace . This palace is very beautiful and made by Italian architecture . This palace is also linked with the freedom movement of India . In the time of Quit India Movement Gandhi ji and his wife kasturba bahen was prisoned there . There was photograph of staying gandhi with his wife and showing their room and used material .
Now I started for the bus stop from where I can get buses toward Aurangabad . when I returned from the Aurangabad I visited some of the remaining spot in the Pune city like the Pataleshwar Temple . This temple has been one of the oldest temple in the pune city . It is like a underground temple where certain part is underground . This is a stone curved temple . In this state my next journey has been the Aurangabad where I visited the famous Kailash temple and Ajanta Ellora caves . so see you in the next journey .
