Ttiruvananthpuram is the capital and one of the biggest city in the state . It is more than 1000 year old city build around the Padmanabhaswami temple . This temple is the richest temple in the world dedicated to lord Vishnu . Travancore kingdom in the 17 th century was build around this temple also the city tituvananthpuram . World famous kovalam beach is just 17 km from here . Here water are very clean and the beach was fantastic .This city has one of the cleanest water in India . The city has too much palm and coconut tree . Such a no of trees are there in the city You don’t feel you are in a city . This is the reason that it is called the “Evergreen city of India “. It is also famous for the “Home of lord anantha .”
How to reach Tiruvananthpuram ?
Tiruvananyhpuram is the capital of Kerala . It is well connected by the Rail , road , water and Air with the rest of India and also rest of World . It is just beside the Arabian sea and also major port transporting Goods through the sea port . In older days passenger ships also travel for long distance to another continent .
It is well connected to rest of the Indian state by the Indian Railway . Southern Railway has direct train for all metro cities like kolkata , delhi , Mumbai , Chennai .
Trivandrum (old name of Tiruvananthpuram ) has two airport one international Airport . From which , there is direct flight in Middle east and south east Asia. Some major airline also operate from this airport . Another is the domestic airport . This terminal is small and this airport is just beside the sea . Sometimes flight have to cancel for bad sea weather .
NH66 and SH 2 passes through the Trivandrum city . It has road connectivity for all the cities in the state and also near by state capital .
Also in kerala backwaters boats running and passengers are traveled through it .
Story
This is my first time in Kerala and I also started my journey from this city . It is very beautiful city . all around the city you can spot trees . In no capital I found Such a canopy cover . Weather here is very pleasant . I come here in the October month of 2019 year in the vacation of Durga Puja . Though I missed the Durga puja in Kolkata still I enjoyed the trip . From the Kolkata airport I take a flight and first the flight stop at Mumbai then you have to change the flight and then another flight from Mumbai to the Tiruvananthpuram . When It is near to the trivandrum airport I can clearly see the waves of the sea . It was in the sunset time . Now in this season in Kerala there is little rain drop pours. It is the 2nd rainy season in kerala . Today there strong wind was blowing and little rain . airport have been little far from the main city . Place have been very quiet . As very less flight operate from this airport as lots of airline company like air India operate from the International airport . After coming out of the Airport first I try to locate my hotel .
In google map it was showing it was very near to the airport . Still one cab is charging more . Then I found a auto driver taken me to the hotel. It was a bunglow type building . Just after the hotel there is a road and then after starts the wall of the airport . Walls are high and above it there is a wire fencing . I come here around 8 :30 pm . On the way there is a cemetery and beside it is the church . The bungalow is good but there you can’t find people . The area is covered by the coconut tree . In this compound there is also other residential complex . All together it is something mistery . After reaching there I don’t find any reception for this guest house . There was a people live in a hut . He taken care of the property . This person have been dead drunk . I am asking something he is replying another . After long chat I am able to make him understand that I am a tourist and want some room .
He show me two room one which I booked – dorm room . It was in underground , there is only one people stayed . He said that person supposely living here for 1 month . In this dorm room there is no window it is very suffocating so I asked him to show another room . It was in ground floor . Room was nice , all over the room there is window . There is also a small balcony , bathroom is also attached . Now I slept . At around 10 pm I wake up and eat some cake and other dry food and sleep once again .
My haunted experience
Today throughout night I can’t sleep properly . This room has such a haunted experience . I was sleeping , suddenly I feel that there is some small noise coming from outside . I just opened the window . Beside my window there is a pineapple tree and some other bigger trees . I thought the noise might be made as heavy wind is blowing .Then after I once again try to sleep . gradually I feel someone is talking from my bathroom . After sometime I feel someone is pulling the the flash in my bathroom . I suddenly switch on the light and go inside the bathroom there was no body . Now still once again I try to sleep this time also same sound coming from outside . I go outside and inspect all around my room there is none only a stairs going to upward . I feel I should not go upward it might be some personal property . This way the whole night gone . In the morning only I sleep for sometime .
In the morning I inspect the whole area and found there was nothing unusual , just it was raining heavily yesterday . I thought It might be some sound for heavy rain and wind . Just beside my hotel there is the sea. Morning time is for the fishing . You can see lots of people are involved in the fishing in the sea shore . One boat goes into the sea carrying the net then put it inside the sea . after sometime all people pull the net from beach . When they pulling the net they sung some traditional songs for rithom and power . when they pull all the net then you can see fish are inside the net . This video will show clearly how they catch fish .
After that I take breakfast and went to visit padmanabhaswami temple . My hotel is 6 km from the main city . From my hotel I take a auto towards the temple . It is like 30 mins drive . It is richest temple in the world After the secret volts are opened . Huge treasurers found on those vaults after the supreme court ordered to open. Here god vishnu is in the lying posters and ananthnag made shade above his head . This current temple is over the 1000 yr old and and founded in the Chera Dynasty . In lots of purana they have mentioned the god padmanabhaswami . The temple complex is huge there is huge outer structure and inside is the Garbhagriha .You have to wear traditional dresses like Dhoti for men and saree for woman . No leather , material used for intoxication are allowed inside the temple and only Hindu are allowed to enter the temple . There is Huge pyramid like structure in front gate . This shows the tamil architecture . It is the symbol of this temple . Jaggery payasam is the main Prasadam of this temple . Inside this temple there is six volts full of treasure . 5 volts have been opened and worth of $ 22 billion treasure comes out . It is belived that remaining door connects to the sea . if it opens it might submerge the temple . Another thought is that if this volt opens it might open some pandemic . This volt’s door have a snake guard no key nothing . It is also written in the scripture that only some magical mantra can open the door . But now a days there is no sadhu who can complete the process. This temple has been full of misery .
On this temple if you want to enter you must have a special dress code . so I buy a Dhoti with 50 rs . There is some changing room placed beside the main entrance . Now I first went inside the changing room and after changing I kept my cloths , mobile and other items in the clock room . Now I have only the token for the clock room and money bag with me . Now I went towards the main entrance . They check ourselves with the metal detector . In the morning gold covered temple looks very shiny and beautiful . Inside the temple there is long lines towards the garbhagriha . All the devotee following the same dress code . The temple is huge and Inside there is huge ground . I don’t what it is for . There is lots of small temple inside the complex . The main garbhagriha is a darker and cool place . Here lord Vishnu is in lying posture and ananthnag is shading over his head . God laxmi in his feet and brambha from his navi . Here people praying to god . After that I come out of the Garbhagriha and buy prasadam for my home . Then after I come out of the temple and take my belongings from the clock room .
Now I take some picture of the temple from a distance . In nearby I saw coconut oil is being sold . So I brought some coconut oil and banana chips for the Home . As those items are not available in west Bengal . Then I take breakfast in a local shop . Now I travel in the local area and come back to my hotel and take rest in the afternoon in the room . Around 3 pm I start my journey towards kovalam beach . This is one of the cleanest beach in India .
This is not the longest beach but the waves are very low and here the western ghats touches the Arabian sea . Here water is almost crystal clear . Today was raining so it is very difficult to enjoy the beach . I puchased a cap to protect from the rain . But after sometime it was raining heavily . So I have to take shelter in a shop . when the rain stops it was like sunset time . There was a park or monument which I can not reach as it closes after the sunset . Here in kovalam most of the bigger hotels are situated in the beach . small road was build parallel to the beach then comes the restaurant and hotels . After spending sometime I was going for my hotel. suddenly I found someone asking for message . I heard about the benefit for Ayurvedic message . So I take a chance . I asked him what is the price . They taken me to the shop and they show me the chart . So I choose full body message . Here they first heated some ayurvedic oil . With that they massage . I would not say it is excellent but ok for relax your muscle . That person was massaging not very experienced . So I would say go for reputed message centre . That might be expensive but very relaxing and value for money . After that I take bus for the city .
Now I planned to visit a local mall . So today I reached mall of travancore . It was a big mall and well decorated . specially the wall grenary in the mall looks very nice . From there I make a little adventure and walk towards my hotel walking in unknown road . In most part road was beside a cannel . There was nobody in the road total clean . After sometime comes the airport . When finally I reached near to my hotel almost all food was over . Only parota left . I eat with the parota and some veg curry . Now I went toward my hotel .
Today was late so I slept quickly . But after 12 pm in the night that same feeling going with me . That same sound goes on and on like previous night . I somehow stick to bed but I can not sleep properly . I slept for morning 7 am . I asked the owner about the sound I heard in night . They said it might be for the sea wind . Whatever I don’t know but this bungalow was mysterious . In Morning I went to the nearest beach . I saw the traditional fishing . Where a group of fisherman catch fish by net like the above video . It looks very fascinating . The morning wind kept away previous night hazard .
Now after sometime I come back to my hotel and prepare for todays journey toward the city thrissure . Pooram and Onam are the biggest festival of the city Thrissure . It is the cultural nerve of Kerala . So in the next blog I will describe my Thrissure travel .
So tiruvananthpuram is a modern city with rich history and world’s richest temple Padmanabhaswami temple . People here are very enviournment concious . You can see the city being covered by greenary and also Kovalam is one of the cleanest beach in India . Here people are friendly and you can taste good crunchy kerala Parota made of coconut oil . People are educated and there is religious hermony .
