Vishakapatnam is famous for the coastal town , deep sea port and one of the famous tourist destination in India . Vishakapatnam is also called vizag . some of the places to visit in vizag are Rishikonda Beach , Ramkrishna beach , Kailasgiri , War memorial , Matsyadarshini Aquarium , Araku valley , borra caves , Totlakonda , submarine museum and naval museum . It is also a major Railway hub where all the rails going through the costal lines and go for the southern cities like Madras , bengaluru and Hyderabad . If you make a journey from Kolkata to chennai then you will see that the front portion engine has been disconnected and in the Backside a new engine was connected and the train running towards opposite direction . Nearby beautiful araku valley is famous for the the hill town and for the coffee plantation .

VMRDA INS Kursura Submarine Museum :

Beside the sea beach It is a unique destination to visit in Vishakapatnam . This is a old russian made submarine which was decommissioned in the year 2001 .

When you enter in this Museum you can understand the life inside the submarines . Inside in the side walls there will be lots of pipes for different purposes . They navy people sleep in the bunker beds inside the submarines . You can see also the sewerage system and How they dispose it into the system . There is also the different equipment to track the enemies , the depth in which the submarine navigates and also the another different metrics .

This museum is opened for the general public from 2PM to 8 pm and the ticket price is 70 INR for per adult .

Ramkrishna Beach :

Ramkrishna beach is one of the most popular beach in Vishakapatnam . Most of the local people come here to enjoy . The beach is situated in the heart of the city , But the beach is little dirty . There is a Kali Temple just beside the beach .

Araku Valley :

Araku valley is a Hill station in Andhra Pradesh situated in the Eastern Ghats mountain at an altitude of 911 meters . It is situated 120 km from the city of vishakapatnam . It is mainly inhabited by the Tribals of that region . There is a tribal museum in araku city where you can see the tribal lifestyle , how the weave cloths , How they make foods , How they make rice in traditional method and other aspects like marriage and festivals .dress code . There are different human models representing different actions of the tribal people of araku . The tribes lives in araku are khord , mallis , nookadora bagata , gadaba , koya and savara . The city is little cold than vishakapatnam for it’s altitude .

You can reach there by trains or buses . Trains are much comfortable and goes through multiple caves . In this area borra caves is one of the famous cave. beside the araku city there is a thick forest and coffee plantation . This are some of the unique things you can see in araku valley .

Matsyadarshini Aquarium:

Matsyadarshini aquarium is situated beside the Ramkrishna Beach . It is really enjoyable at a price of just 20 inr . You can see different types of fishes , sharks , turtles and the star fish . You maybe have to walk 1 km from the kali temple in the Ram Krishna Beach . It is maintained by the vishakapatnam Municipality . There is a big sharks mouth in the gate of this aquarium, .

Entry fees of the aquarium is 20 INR and the entry time is between 9 am to 9 pm .

Borra Caves :

Borra caves is situated near to the araku city and it is million of years old . The water curved this cave . First you have to go down 80 meter inside the cave . The cave is very smelly as poops of bats are all around . You can see the water drops from the above drop by drop . This water curved this limestone caves and make stalegtite and stalegmite shapes . some of the shape looks like Hara parvati . Local tribal people worshipped this naturally made structure. The way inside the cave is very narrow and sometime you have to keep your head down or sometimes you have to crawl to go forward .

The train goes to the araku valley also goes through the station borra . This is the most convineant way to reach borra caves . otherwise you can reach there by bus . but it will stop little farther .

Rushikonda Beach :

This beach is situated 8 km from the Vishakapatnam city and it is a clean beach with golden sand . Lots of tourists also visit this beach . There is a small hill and the beach also surrounds the beach .

lot’s of tourists come here for the water sports like kayaking , jet skiing , windsurfing and many more . The water is blue and nearby there is a hill called kailashgiri . In this beach there is lots of chairs in the shade of coconut trees where you can enjoy the scenic view of the beach . This beach is most relaxed and tourist friendly .

I find Vishakapatnam is mostly populated with telugu people . so here you can taste different telugu foods . As nearby city Rajahmundry is the birth place of the telugu language and the hub of the telugu culture . Here you can taste authentic telugu lunch with different curries , dosas , idlies , vadas . They have different types of rice dishes like Tamarind Rice , Lemon Rice , Mango Rice , Curd Rice , Tomato Rice , Coconut Rice and Jaggery Rice and many more . Among them lemon rice is my favourite , I have not tasted all types of rices but the main staple food in andhra pradesh is rice . For that reason in the food habits rice is prevalent in Andhra Pradesh .

Vishakapatnam is mostly famous in India as one of the important naval base of India , major railway railway junction in India . It is also popular among the tourist as you can experience a beautiful golden sand beaches , caves, forest , hill city and the tribal museum in araku valley . There is some beautiful unique beaches beside in Vishakapatnam where people come to enjoy the nature .
