Nha Trang is one of the major beach destination in southern Vietnam with scuba diving and other facility . During the Vietnam War it was a famous resort town among the Americans and french . It is combination of the Limestone mountain and crystal clear beach . With the beaches there is situated some beautiful Hindu and Buddhist temple and a catholic church . You can also explore some museum around the city and a disnyland like park in a island . Mud bath , salt fields and Ba ho waterfall are some special attraction in the outskirt of the city .
The city is connected to other cities by both the rail and road . There is also Cam Ranh International Airport which is situated 30 km from the Nha trang City .
Alexander Yersin Museum:
Alexander Yersin is a Swis – french doctor of the 20 th century who lived his entire adulthood in Nha Trang . This museum beside the sea is his personal house and laboratory . In this house he discovered the bacteria responsible for bubonic plague and the vaccine of Leukemia , Tetanus and cholera .
He is also the first principal of the Indo – china Medicine school in Hanoi . This museum was recognized by the Ministry of Culture , Vietnam .
This museum opens between 8 am – 4 pm daily . Ticket price is 26000 VND /adult .
Long son Pagoda :
Long Son Pagoda is one of the oldest pagoda in Nha trang area , first established in another hill top of this area in the year 1886 and later destroyed in a devastated typhoon in the year 1900 . Later in 1935 it was reestablished in the current area and severely damaged in the Vietnam war in the year 1968 and rebuilded after the war ends .
This pagoda has two structure , one in the ground floor where most of the people prays and one in the hill top named Hai Duc temple where this big white concrete Buddha statue has been established . This Buddha statue has been the Biggest Buddha statue in this area . It has been 24 meters in height from the base . From the ground you have to climb 152 steps to reach this area .
After reaching there you can see there were some Buddhist monks spelling some sacred Mantras and people are doing some rituals for their family’s well being . You can see people are burning some sheets of paper where some massages were written . This is a tradition in the Mahayana Buddhism in Vietnam .
This pagoda has been opened from 8 am to 5 pm daily and has no entry fees for the Visitors .
Po Nagar Temple :
This temple has been one of the major attraction to Indian tourist as it’s principle deity Yan Po Nagar is closely resembles to Hindu godess durga with ten hands . History tells that the first worship in this temple is done in the 2nd century BC but later in 774 AD some looters from Java destroyed the temple . In the time of Cham kingdom a golden statue of godess Po Nagar was established here which were later destroyed by the kings from the khemer king .
After that a stone statue was replaced in place of the golden statue . After that different kings donated different items like Mukhalinga , Shrishana Vishnu and valuable gifts . Later in 17 th century finally Vietnamese army captured this area .
This temple is situated beside mouth of the river Cai . There is all together 5 towers dedicated to different deity and a small museum dedicated to the history and artifacts found in this premises .
The temple is opened from 6 am to 5:30 pm daily and the entry fees is 25000 VND per adult .
Tanh Dien Khanh Fortress :
This is a citadel situated 10 km from the city of Nha trang and was build in the time of Nguyen Anh in the year 1793 . There is not much to see except this city wall which is 3.5 meter in height and 2 meter in wide .
This wall is free to visit and opens all the day.
National Oceanographic Museum of Vietnam :
This is one of the tourist spot where you can see different fishes in the aquarium and some crabs and crocordile . This museum is opened in the year 1923 and it is the Headquarter of all the marine institutions in Vietnam .
It is opened between the 6 am to 6 pm daily . Entry fees of this museum is 40000 VND Per adult .
Beach Nha Trang :
This beach is spread 6 km along the city . This is one of the beach where it gets most of the sunshine . A parallel road runs with that beach . Most of the Hotels and restaurants are spread in this area .
This beach have good palm and coconut shade . Some of the children’s parks are situated in the side of the road . In the morning you can see people are dancing and exercising beside the beach pavements . Different water sports are also available here.
Vinpearl la :
Vinpearl La is a amusement park situated in Hon Tre island near to the Nha trang bay . It is connected with the mainland by a Ropeway . Boats are also running between the mainland and this island . The island is mainly a limestone mountain and in big letters in the slope of the mountain VINPEARL is written which can be seen from the beach of Nha Trang . It is like the Disney Land of Vietnam .
This park has restaurants , hotels , joy rides , fly board , water sport , sky wheel , zoo , aquarium , relaxation items and many more .
This park is opened from 8 am – 9 pm and entry tickets and two way cable car ticket costs 39 USD in Normal time and 20 USD after 4 pm .
Nha trang Cathedral :
This is the biggest church in the city of Nha Trang . In 1880 first a small church was established by the french government for the religious needs of the government officials . by the way this is a Catholic church .
After that in 1934 this stone church was established . Bell tower is the major attraction of this church where two big bronze bells were installed .
This church is opened from 4:45 am to 5 pm daily and entry is free for all .
Hon Chong Promonto :
This is situated 4 km north of the Nha Trang City . This place is situated in the beach where large boulders stacked one upon another making a unique shape . According to scientist this big boulders are formed by thousands of years by tidal erosion . From the top of this boulders you can have beautiful view of the surrounding planes and sea . You can also see some people are making surfing and some fishing in this area . Lots of snails are attached on this wet rocks .
On a unique rock in this place you can see a big five fingers hand has been embeded and in another place a stone has been stuck between two big bolders . In this place there is a small museum where you can see different Vietnamese artefacts and some paintings .
This place has a ticket and opens from 6 am – 6 pm . Ticket price for climbing the rock is 30000 VND per adult including that museum .
Thap tram Huong :
Tham Tram Huong is a art performing tower of the Nha Trang City . It is situated just beside the beach and build like lotus flower which is sacred symbol in Buddhism . This building is also called the agarwood tower .
Ba Ho Waterfall :
Ba Ho waterfall is one of the beautiful three layered waterfall situated 25 km north of the Nha Trang City . This waterfall belongs to Van Thuan Village . The fall drops from the Hoa son Peak and make three lakes in it’s 660 meter fall in different heights . In Vietnamese language Ba Ho means three pool . Most of the people goes up to the first layer of pool .
The waterfall is opened from the 8 am – 4:30pm and entry fees is 20000 VND per adult .
Salt Field :
Here you can see the salt making process where sea water is flooded in the plots and wait to dry . After they dried they are gathered in a hip . This is a unique experience .
This salt fields are situated 45 km north of the Nha Trang city from the Doc Let beach and spread many kilometers . It is free to visit .
Mudbath thap ba hot spring :
Mudbath is a thousand year old tradition in this area . Here people put hot volcanic mineral rich mud on their skin and soaked it for 20 minutes . then after soaked themselfs under hot mineral water for 30 minuters .
This mud are full of sulphur and Magnesium and different health benefits . Mostly this are used to cure skin deceases but in Joint pain and Arthritis it also helps . Tourist mainly come here for relaxation , medical treatment and Fun .
Island tour of Nha trang :
There are all together 70 islands nearby to Nha Trang . You can experienced unspoiled nature in those islands as most of the islands and unhabitated .
