Ramappa Temple is a fine example of Kakatiya art , build in the 13 th century and a UNESCO World heritage site . This is the first temple in India to be named after it’s architect Ramappa , not the deity Rudreswara (shiva) . Ramappa temple is famous for it’s sanbox technique , which protects it from two big earthquake . For making the temple lightweight , Architect Ramappa used a unique brick to make the roof which can floats on water . This techniques is such a successful that in Ram Mandir in Ayodhya this technique is going to be implemented . The relief on the black Basalt rock in this temple is really beautiful .
How to reach Ramappa Temple ?
Ramappa Temple is quiet far from any nearby cities and situated near the Palampet village in a open field surrounded by some tribal villages . This temple is 160 km from Hyderabad , 70 km from warangal and 15 km from the District HQ of Mulugu . I heard that there is a daily one direct bus from hyderabad but you need to enquire it befor your journey .
I reached this temple from Warangal . There is no direct bus from warangal to this temple so you have to change two times . First you have to take a bus from the warangal bus stand to the Hambonkonda bus station (distance is 8 km ) . From there you can get another bus toward Mulugu bus stop (distance is 50 km ) . From here you can book either a shared jeep or bus toward Palampet (distance is 15 km ) . The bus will drop you at the gate , from here you have to walk 1.5 km to reach the exact temple . By this way it requires almost 3 hours to reach Ramappa Temple from warangal .
There is no entry fees to this temple but if you want to make video then you need permission from the archiological depertment of Hyderabad . Mobile photography is allowed . The temple is opened everyday from morning 6 am to 6 pm .
Where to stay near Ramappa Temple ?
Nearest stay option to the ramappa temple is beside the Ramappa lake in Haritha Lake View Resorts Ramappa which is 1.3 km from the temple . Rather than in the Mulugu city there is some stay option but those are basic Hotels . Nearest big city to the Ramappa Temple is in the Warangal city . Here you can get all sorts of accomodation .
There is not even a restaurent to launch near to the Ramappa temple . This temple is build just inside a open field . all the facility is available to the nearby city Mulugu .

This temple was build in the year 1213 by a general in the kakatiya dynasty named Racherla Rudra . Marcopolo during his visit to india visited this temple and described it as “Brigtest star in the galaxy of temple “. Most of the structure of this temple is build by the red sand stone but the pillars of the temple are build by the rock basalt . In this pillars there has been beautifully carved figures . In the celing and the door panel there was beautifully carved sculpture which described the stories of Ramayana and Mahabharata . The statue of celestial dancers welcomes you when entering the temple . In the front of the deity there is a mandap of Nandi .
This black colored bull is made of a single basalt block and designed beautiful jewellery in it’s neck . Stairs of this temple is very high . People thought that kakatiya rulers were very tall so they don’t have any problem to use it .
The roof of the garbhagriha are made with a specific brick which can float in the Water . This made the stucture very light weight . Though you can not see it from the outside . It was protected from the general public .
There was another temple just beside this main temple .
