Nagaland is a state in the North east India , having international border with Mayanmar and domestic border with Assam, Arunachal pradesh and Manipur . It is one of the smallest state in India. Capital of Nagaland is Kohima but the biggest city is Dimapur which is situated In the plain land . Most of the area in the Nagaland are Mountain . Here Nagames is most verbal language . 16 major tribes inhibits in Nagaland , they are like konyak , Kachari, Angami, Kuki, Angami , Ao. ect . Koynak are most ferocious tribes with traditional tattoos in their face and body . Long time ago they were the head hunter .

History of nagaland :
The food habits of nagaland are Non – Veg. They eat different animals like Mithun,Cow,Goat,Hen,Pig,snake,dog,fish,bird,bear,tiger . In real sense , they eat every living animal in their view . In every village there is only one entrance and beside that situated the marang(there only bachelor male stays ). They protect their village from the outside attack . They also have weapons to fight against enemies . There is a tribe , called Koynak reside in the Mon district . In earlier times they were Head Hunters . When there is fight between villages they cut their opponents head and showcase in this marang . It stops after India’s Independence and spreading of the Christianity in this area. They made very large tattoo in their body. They used hat made of feather of bird .
The major occupation of this people are agriculture . Almost 70 % of the people are with this profession . Here you can find world’s hottest chillies named “Bhot jolokia“. Hornbill is a major festival in Nagaland which organizes in December every year . Here all tribes of Nagaland participate to showcase their rich culture . It is promoted by the govt to preserve their culture . It is celebrated in the kisama village , which is 12 km ahead of the Kohima.

If you plan to visit Nagaland then you must require a Inner Line Permit . I applied it through online mode in their government website and this will cost only 50 INR .
How to reach Nagaland ?
Air
Dimapur is the only airport to reach to nagaland. There is a direct flight from kolkata, Guwahati ,Imphal and dibrugarh toward Dimapur . Kohima airport is in the developmental phase .
Rail
From Dimapur there is train to the rest of the Indian cities. This is the only rail station in Nagaland.
Road
NH 2 , NH 29, NH 129, NH 129A, NH202, NH702, NH 702b and AH1 and AH 2 passes through the Nagaland . It also has some state highways which connect to small villages and different district HQ.
Places to visit in Nagaland ?
There is two types tourism in Nagaland . First the cultural tourism and the second natural tourism . Places of interest are
- Dimapur : It is the biggest city in the Nagaland . Here you can see some ancient monument like Jain Temple , Kachari Rajbari,, Dimapur AO Bapist church ect . Also you can go to the chumukedima and enjoy the mountain.
- Mokokchung : It is said to be the cultural city in the Nagaland . Most of the Ao tribes comes from here . It is birth place of their tribes. In a little distance situated the traditional village named ungama .It is the birth place of ao tribe.
- Kohima: It is the capital and the place of battle between engilsh force and the Azad Hind army . You can see the war cemetery of dead soldiers in WW II .
- Mon: It is the district of koynak tribe. There have been many stories about them and their lifestyle.
