This is the Nastiest temple I ever seen , floors are sticky , all the place have very bad smell and allover there are rats . There is more than 25000 rats in this temple .Rats roaming around the floor , they are hanging by the raling , they are eating the vegetables for cooking , they even eat the prasadam . This rats will go on your body they don’t fear of anything . It is like heaven for this rats .Before the rats eat prasadam they will not be distributed . This temple and customs are the weirdest that I have ever seen . But the astonishing factor is that nobody become ill by eating this prasadam and never any dises spread because of this rats .
How to reach :
Karni Mata Temple is situated in Deshnoke , Rajasthan which is 30 km distant from the city Bikaner city in Rajasthan .
From new bus stand in the bikaner city you will get buses toward this temple . Otherwise auto will go to this temple from the bikaner city . Road towards deshnoke passes through the Thar desert and in between some tribal villages .
Deshnoke Railway station is the nearest railway station to this temple . From Jaipur , jodhpur and bikaner there is direct train to this station . This station is very near to the temple .
Bikaner airport becoming the nearest airport but flight are less . so you can access Jaipur or Jodhpur airport where frequent flight is available for rest of India .

This temple opens everyday from 5 am in the morning to 10 pm in the night .
Stories:
This temple has been dedicated to Karni Mata . Who born in the year 1387 year . Local people worship her as a avtar(reincarnation of gods ) of Durga . Local people claimed that she lived 150 year . they belive she have mystical power .
Story started when her one son died by accident . Then she insisted Yamraj (god of death for Hindus ) for giving her son life . As it is against the law of nature . Yamraj give her son life as a rat . This rats are called ‘kaba’ here . People worship this rats as the son of karni mata . That is the reason that people don’t harm rats . Certain caste of the villager believed that this are their ancestors who reincarnated as rats . people of this place also believe that they will become rats after their death . So they taken care of the rats . This is the belief of the people of Deshnok .
Some of the famous forts Mehrangarh fort and the fort built by rao bika in Bikaner have blessing of karni mata . This temple have been more than 600 years old and it is also believed that karni mata have made austerity in this palace . The deity is here curved on a stone . here in this temple if a rat dies its place have been fulfilled by a silver rat .
There is also saying that if a rat climbs on you then it brings good luck and if you saw a white rats it will bring very good luck but if any rat is harmed by you then it brings bad luck to you . You have to go inside the temple with bare foot . People brought khoya or nuts for the rats . In the kitchen before making food rats bite the food .
Karni mata temple is a mughal architectures temple . The present shape of the temple is made by Maharaja Ganga singh ji . It has a Silver door and marvel floor and roof .
Beside the temple there prasad shops , they sold coconut , khoya , nuts and chana to serve the rats and taken back as prasadam . It is like savana for rats . where they are free to roam around .
People come from the foreign land to see this temple . As customs of this temple is the wierest I have ever seen . Mostly Rajasthan have lots of wiered stories about the spirit here .

Here one thing I understand that in the name of god people will belief anything and do everything . Where in the normal kitchen if people saw a rat they try to chase them but here they worship rats and bring food for them . Local people also don’t care about them as they feel it will bring good luck for them . everything looks very astonishing for me here .
