Ahmedabad is one of the biggest city in the western Indian and largest producer of textile products .It is India’s first UNESCO world heritage city which was founded by Ahmed shah I in 1411 . his name becomes the city’s name . Ahmedabad has lots of Historical places to visit . Gandhiji’s sabarmati asram was also located here .
In the month of august I come to this city . This is my third city in the state after Surat and Vadodara . I have to say this city have been too much vibrant and there is always crowd in every part of the city that reminds me my home city Kolkata .
Here state Bus , Rapid Transport system and Auto are the major modes of transport in the city . Before you board a auto clearly negotiate , otherwise they will charge you very high . Here happens lots of scams by the auto drivers . Public transport is very cheap but you have to show stopping sign in front of the running bus otherwise they may not stop even in the bus stop . After showing the sign still sometimes they don’t stop , this is the problem with the Government buses . This city does not have Metro that is the biggest disadvantage . Here people are very busy and concentrated only on their business. I have to say Gujarat does not have tourist-friendly atmosphere.
Some of the tourist places in Ahmedabad are
1 Jama Masjid
It is one of the oldest building in this city made by Ahmad shah I in 1411 . I must say this mosque have been very clean . Inside the Mosque in the middle there is a small water place where people wash their hands and head before entering the main prayer hall . Inside the prayer hall the domes have beautiful decoration . The walls and the pillars were curved very delicately . The whole mosque have been covered by high rock wall with beautiful small dome above it .
Floor is made up of the white Marbel and the whole fort is made of yellow sand stone . There is a big rock field like area inside the Mosque . In my mind this is the best mosque in terms of cleanliness . Floor have been properly cleaned and the whole mosque is very well maintained .
Bhadra Kali Temple and fort
Devi Bhadrakali is a form of devi durga . It is believed that this temple is more than 800 years old and part of Bhadra Fort . King of Patan has established this temple .Lots of visitors visited this temple every day. In the time of Navaratri there happens lots of Festival .
Delhi Darwaza:
Delhi Darwaza is one of the famous door still exist of the walled city Ahmedabad . In the time Ahmed shah 1 made the city he make high wall throughout the city and made certain door on it . It is like that . In later times two more door were added for traffic to pass under it .

This has been Gandhi’s workplace. This ashram has been very simple consisting of some huts which are situated beside the river Sabarmati . Here Gandhi practices a simple lifestyle and wear khadi and make thread from cotton.
In the Museum life of Gandhi has been presented . Here also the room where Gandhi used to stay with Kasturba Gandhi also been preserved. Inside there is a room where lots of Charka(a Machine used to make thread from cotton ) has been preserved . Also there is a school where little children are taught how to make Handicraft items in the principle of Gandhi of Sustainable village
Akshardham Temple
This is a temple situated in the Gandhinagar city of God swaminarayan believer in Hindu religious practise . This temple has been built by red sandstone of Rajasthan . In the making process of this temple, no iron or steel have been used . Inside the temple there is a 7 feet gold statue of Swaminarayan . This temple has been built upon 23 acres of land with 13 years of hard work .
Before entering the temple you have to submit all your belongings and at the time of submitting the elements, they take a picture and issue you a token. I think this is a very good practice to find the thief and fraudster.
