Udaipur , tripura is the tourism capital of tripura . Within 40 – 50 km radious from this city , there is lots of famous tourist spots of Tripura . Neermahal , the historical sites of Pilak , chabimura caves , bhubaneswari temples and local terracotta temples are some of the best places to visit here . This place is not known well marked in the tourist map of India because of the famous Udaipur city of Rajasthan but Neermahal is just not a famous architect building of Tripura but also of India .

How to reach Udaipur city ?

Udaipur city can be reached by both the Road and Rail transport . From Agartala city you can get bus and jeep toward the Udaipur city . This place is just 50 km from Agartala city and it can be covered in 1hr 30 minutes . Jeep may reach Agartala in a hour . Fare for this route in bus may be between 50 – 60 INR.

Also you can reach Udaipur by train but the station is little far from the Udaipur city and nearer to the Tripuri Sundari Temple (Mata Bari). Train takes a hour to reach agartala and the fare is 10 INR . One thing you should notice that , this railway station really looks good and looks like a Palace . This is one of the most decorated station In India .

This is one of the Famous Temple in the state of Tripura and one of the Shaktipeeth of Sati . People belived that Sati’s left leg’s finger dropped in this place . Current form of temple has been established by the Tripura king Dhanya Manikya in year 1501 and established in this Kurma hill . This little hill looks like a Kurma(tortoise) so this hill is called Kurma hill . Inside the temple there is two idols one is devi tripurasundari and the another one is chota maa . This second idol was recovered from the earth when this big pond was dugged . It is the most famous temple of North East India after Kamakhya Temple .

Chabimura :

Chabimura is a unique Tourist place inside India . Here you can see the Rock curving of the Hindu Gods and godess , deep inside the forest in the steep walls of the Mountain . Specially the big to Durga curving on the rock is most famous . For seeing this you have to make a 1 hour boat journey from chabimura boating point . There is multiple rock carvings near to the place , from where those boats start . Here you can see rock curving of the kartik , ganesh , shiva and different gods . Local tribal people worship this gods .

The place is also significant in terms of the natural beauty . Here Gomati river is passed through the deep canyon . Both side is walled by high mountain . In this journey also you visited a cave . For natural beauty and deep forest this place is called the Amazon of India by the local people .

For seeing this place First you have to come to Chabimura . Chabimura can be reached by a auto rishka from the Amarpur city . Amarpur can be reached by bus and jeep from the Udaipur and Agartala . After you reached Chabimura you have to ride this boats . This boats run on sharing basis or reserved basis . On sharing , ticket price is 150 INR per head . Boats will start when a minimum 15 people come . This are government boats run by the private on contract basis . In chabimura there is some food stalls , staying option and camping facility .

Architectural remains of Pilak :

This historical site has the ruins of the Hindu and Buddhist architecture . There is all total three spots shyam sundar tila , Pujakhola tila and Thakurani Tila . You can see old brick structure wall and inside this some hindu statues . Mostly surya and durga statues . On the wall of the structure there are different reliefs , presenting the religious and social belief of the contemporary people . This structures are mostly build in between the 8 th and 12 th century in the Paul dynasty . Structure in pilak are similar to the Sompura Mahavihara in Bangladesh .

This place is mostly rice fields and in between you can see this architectural sites . This place is near to the Jolaibari Railway station . Bus will drop you in the main road and from there you have to walk at least 1km to see shyam sundar tila . After shyam sundar tila Pujakhola tila situated inside the middle of a rice field . After visiting this one finally comes Thakurani tile .

A museum is situated inside the Thakurani tila . In this museum there is collection of the substance found here . Some of the hindu god’s sculpture were kept inside the museum .

This architectural remains were spread across 10 sqkm . so maybe in future lots of remains will be discovered .

Mahamuni Buddha Temple :

Mahamuni Buddhist Temple

Mahamuni Buddha Temple is a burmes buddhist Temple . This temple is situated in the Jolaibari region . It is situated inside a rice field . This temple become famous when Dalai Lama visited this temple .

For coming here you have to board a bus toward Bankul . From Udaipur city , bus runs just beside this temple . The complex is quiet small and have lots of samadhi .

Mainly this are the major spots near the Udaipur city . There is also lots of other spots near Udaipur city . Sepaijala Wifdlife sanctury is situated just 30 km from here .

Neermahal :

Neermahal is the largest water palace inside India . It was build in the year 1930 by the tripura king Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya . Maharaja used this palace for leisure in the summer time to beat the heat . Neermahal is situated in the middle of the Rudrasagar Lake . This place , only can be reached by boat .

For coming to Neer Mahal First you have to come to Melaghar . Melaghar can be reached from Udaipur by bus , auto and jeep . From Agartala you can reach here by bus and jeep .

From Melaghar Bus stand you have to walk or Auto(a type of three wheeler vehicle) towards the Rudrasagar boat point . I reached that place by walking . It requires almost 20 minutes . In between I take my lunch in a restaurant “Sholoana Bangali” which is situated in between melaghar Bazar and the Boat point . From here boats were leaves toward Neermahal . Boat price is 50 INR for the up and down journey . It requires 10 minutes to reach Neermahal .

Price : Boat price is 50 INR and entry ticket for indian is 30 INR .

Terracotta Temples in Udaipur city :

Chaturdash Devata mandir is dedicated to god Sri Krishna . Another name of the temple is Gopinath Temple . This was builld by the tripura king Kalyan Manikya in the year 1650 . Also lots of people think that in earlier times , there was 14 idols of deity . From that only the name “chaturdash devata mandir ” comes . This temple is build in the style of Traditional bengali char chala architecture .

Gunabati Group of temples were build by the Maharaja Gobinda manikya’s wife Gunabati . There is all together 3 temples and this temples were dedicated to the god Vishnu .

Another famous temple , Bhubaneswari temple was dedicated to Kali and situated on a hil top . This temple was contemporary to the previous two temples.

This all temples were build by clay burned brick and situated in the outskirt of the Udaipur city .

Udaipur city is the tourist capital of Tripura . Pilak , Neermahal , Mahamuni buddhist temple , Chabimura and Tripura sundari temple are the major spots to visit in this place . There are some Terracotta temples in the city of Udaipur . Udaipur can be reached by both bus and train from the city of Agartala .
