Now a days Indonesia offer Visa Exemption for 9 countries and VOA for 75 countries . Mostly ASEAN countries got the Visa exemption .

Eligibility for Visa on Arrival (VOA)
- First , your passport should be at least six month valid .
- You need to have two dosage of covid vaccine , approved approved by indonesian government .
- You need to have return or onward journey air ticket .
- You should have hotel reservation for at least for the first entry point .
How to get VOA ?
I entered Indonesia from the Kualanamu International Airport , Medan , sumatra north . Following process continued for those , eligible for VOA
- After arrival to the Airport passengers are first checked for their Covid 19 Vaccination Certificate . You need two dosage of Covid vaccination to enter Indonesia . If you don’t have two dosage vaccine then you must have Negative RT – PCR report .
- After checking Vaccine certificate you have to go to the Bank counter where you have to pay 500000 IDR or equivalent amount in USD for the VOA . Normally they will give you 35 USD bill but according to the exchage rate of their bank they will charge . In my case it was 36 USD . I give them 40 USD and they returned me the rest of the amount in IDR . I recomend to carry smaller USD notes or IDR as exchange rate here are not good .
- Now you have to go to the Immigration counter with the Bank payment slip . They will just ask two or three question and put a sticker visa and the VOA stamp on your passport . This VOA is valid for 30 days of stay in Indonesia . Later you can extend this visa for another 30 days .
- After this , just before the custom you have to fill a offline deceleration about the items you carry . If you have an expensive electronic device which costs more than 500 USD . That must be declared here . Though , They don’t check my baggage .
I must say Indonesian immigration system is very smooth and all persons are very friendly here . Just after knowing that am going to stay here for more than one one month and a blogger he give me some suggestion where to travel in Indonesia . I never meet such a friendly immigration officer .
Summary :-
VOA are available for certain countries which list I given in the upper section in this article and can be obtained from any international airport and certain land ans sea ports . It costs 500000 IDR . For getting a VOA you need a passport valid for six months , a Covid vaccine certificate and a return / onward journey ticket and a hotel reservation . My experience with the immigration is extremely good .
