The above pictures are one the most prominent modern buildings of Dubai , and the rest of the world also . First one is the burj khalifa (tallest building in the world) , second one is the burj – al – arab (one of the luxurious hotel in the world ) and third one is Dubai Frame (a frame like building which divides between the modern and the old Dubai ) . There are lots of places to visit in Dubai like palm Jumeirah island , old Dubai , Dubai museum , Dubai souk , dubai mall , future museum , emirate mall and skyline of the city .
Though this all are the important building in Dubai and most of the tourist come here to see that but there is a different Dubai for the working class people (That are not so shine ) . but I amazed by the amount of different ethenic people lived there . 90 % of the Dubai’s population are immigrant . You can find Indian , Pakistan , European , African , USA , Australia , central Asia , Iran , Syria and may be some from south america also . I never seen a city where such a variety of people lived together . I must appreciate that Dubai govt don’t make any discrimination among them . At least in my 5 day dubai visit I never seen any discrimination and I also believe that , This makes Dubai so rich in culture .
But frankly speaking extreme heat and humidity is the killing factor . So avoid coming Dubai in summer months . With just ten minutes without air condition your shirt will be wet . They make the bus stop AC , metro ac , tram ac , they made air conditioned elevated walk way . I feel Dubai government should plant more trees any way . That will be the better solution .
In my observation there is two types of dubai one with extremely luxury around the Burj khalifa . Where there is luxury apartment and the housing exists and another one being the Deira Dubai . In this place actually working class people lived and it is not shining as like the burj khalifa . You can identify it by movent of people in the metro . In the morning towards the burj khalifa the train is totally packed on the other hand in the evening time towards deira the traffic is full .
places to visit in Dubai :
dubai mall :
Dubai mall is the world’s second largest operating mall in the world after the IRAN Mall in Tehran , Iran . It was opened in the year 2008 and has a retail floor area of 350000 square meter . It has 1200 shops inside the mall and a big food court which has very vast variety of food . In the year 2023 there was a annual footfall of 105 million people where the population of UAE is just 11 million . Can we just imagine How much popular this mall is . Almost the east and west meet in Dubai .
Dubai is extremely hot in summer , sometimes touched 50 degree . So people need a space where they can socialize and have some fun . It is almost like a air conditioned city . It has large big underwater zoo , It is a big aquarium where you can see lots of sea animals . The most interesting fact is that from outside you can see lots of different types of sea animals . If you want to see it more closely then can go inside but with a fee .
I really speaking , this is my favourite place inside Dubai mall . Dubai is ultimately a desert land . There is no fresh water lake or big pond . This waterfall with lots of water will cool your mind . Doctors say that as our body is 90 % water so if we just sit beside any water place , it will cool our mind .
This waterfall is 24 meter in height . inside the water fall there is some human statue facing toward downward . If you look towards it continiously it will look like that the humans are jumping towards the pool . It is a optical illusion .
Another wonder of the Dubai mall is a ice skating field . This mall has something for everybody . It is a miracle that when outside is 50 degree inside dubai mall you can experience the fell of polar ice cold area .
I see a lady , may be from Russia or northern counties doing it like a perfect gypnastic where there are some people from India and arab who are either dropping or skating with a support . It is really something you should not miss inside Dubai mall .
Dubai mall is such a big area that you can easily lost , so after little distance there is electronic board which can show the route and the total map of dubai mall . Also if you are not very comfortable with digital board there is sign board and help desk where you will found emirati people with their traditional dress . They are very polite and always eager to help you .
Dubai malls’s opening time is 10 AM to 12 AM midnight from sunday to wednesday and 10 AM to midnight 1 AM Thursday to saturday .
Burj – al – Khalifa :
Burj khalifa was named after the previous ruler of Abu Dhabi Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan in the year 2010 . It was the tallest man made building at staggering 828 meter . It also holds the longest plumbing work of 213 km in this building . The whole building is covered with glass panel so the natural sunlight can flow into the building .
If you just go to the bottom of the building , your neck will be paining . I take this photo from at least 500 meter far or just the end of the Dubai mall . But it is very compact build like a sharp lance .
The most attraction for the tourist is the observation desk at 452 meter . There is different observation desk at the different floor of the building . you can get the details in here .
Burj – al – Arab :
Burj – al- Arab is the only 7 star hotel in the World . It was build in a artificial island inside the sea which is 280 meter from the Jumeirah beach . There was also a helipad in the roof .
You can not go far beyond this point from land . There is a museum about the construction of this building . If you want to enter into this hotel then you have to take a guided tour . I see that from the ferry point there is some ferry in the evening which can give you the all dubai cities view from water . It charges 50 AED . I think that , It is far better option to see this hotel from closely .
Dubai frame :
Dubai frame is really a futuristic building . It really looks like that the middle section is floating in the sky . There is a nearby bridge to cross the road . If you really want to see it as a frame then go there . From this place you can have a good view of the frame and can take a picture .
Dubai Frame is a museum and observatory which devides the old dubai to the new Dubai . It is the largest frame in the world . It’s height is 150 m and the width is 50 meter . There is elevator to reach to the top . The Gold plated design looks very fine . It is situated inside the Zabeel park . This is the only garden inside the Dubai area where you can see some big trees .
Entry fees of an adult is 50 AED . It opens from morning 9 am — 9 pm daily .
Palm – Jumeirah island :
Palm Jumeirah is a artificial archipelago in the gulf – of – persia in the shape of a palm three . Where from the mainland the body of the palm starts and in the final there is spread leaves of the tree . It was completed in the year 2006 . Lots of million ers and billionaires were lived in the resorts in the island .
There is monorail for tourists to visit the island . The rate chart I am providing from the Palm jumeirah tram station . If you buy a return ticket and all day pass that will be best for the travel .
Museum of Future :
This museum has unique feature of the future and designed uniquely . when you go inside you will see some unique creatures floating inside the complex .some children having fun with this animals . Inside the museum there are lots of futuristic buildings .
It has direct metro connection with the world trade center. Entry ticket for this museum is 149 AED .
Dubai soukh :
This are the old styled Bazar just opposite to the dubai mall . You have to reach there by the pool over the water bodies . In this shopping mall most probably the golden jewelry and some traditional hand made things are sold .
Traditional souk are not air conditioned but this one is air conditioned as in modern days there is barely any place where people can made shopping without air condition .
Dubai Fountain :
Dubai Fountain is one of the most interesting free shows which runs from the evening 6 pm for every half an hour . In this shows music are played and the water fountain dance on the beats .
some of the water shoots about 500 feet in the sky . This fountain has been installed by the cost of 214 million USD .
Summary :
Dubai is a very modern city with huge sky scrappers . It has multiple theme park but for me the main attractions are the cosmopolitanism . I never ever have been in a city where you will find any kind of people from the African to European , chines , Japanese , Indian , American and many more . There is two types of Dubai , one with big building and lots of offices and the second one is for the working class people . But all together this is a wonderful city to visit .
